wanted: the perfect man

"Whether a man ends up with a nest egg or a goose egg depends on which chick he marries." -- Unknown

I have been thinking about the list I posted about boy likes girl and decided to make a list of things I (girl [smile]) like in a guy. After reading the things I like, you may accuse me of wanting the perfect man. :-) Maybe I do. But you know, regardless of what I want, God knows exactly the man I need and, if it is His will, He will provide him.

However, until then... ;-)

A girl likes a boy who she can...
laugh with...
talk with...
cry with...
debate with...
can tease and be teased by...

A girl likes a boy who...
loves God with all his heart, soul and might...
has a sense of humor...
treats children like they matter...
can be friends with both guys and gals...
is well read...

A girl likes a boy who...
can think on his own...
but is respectful of differing opinions...
is willing to take the lead...
but doesn't micromanage her...
is willing to attend a church that he isn't in 100% agreement with...

A girl likes a boy who...
exercises self control...
doesn't get angry often...
will take the time to enjoy a good movie with her...
will call her up to simply say, “Hi! I was thinking of you today”...
can keep secrets... [in other words, does not share with others what should not leave the home]

A girl likes a boy who...
enjoys many genres of music, including opera and bluegrass... ;-)
likes to dance...
is willing to put up with blond moments...
doesn't mind spending money on quality chocolate...
works hard to provide for his family...

A girl likes a boy who...
doesn't think money and gifts will solve all the problems...
will let her love him...
is willing to forgive and be forgiven...
isn't afraid of sarcasm...
thinks homeschooling rocks...

A girl likes a boy who...
makes the Bible his standard...
is down to earth...
takes what her siblings give him and gives it back... [heh heh]
has time for the elderly and their wisdom...
will go through hell and high water to get her...

And I didn't include this quality because it isn't necessary, but it would be the cat's meow if he was a musician. :-) Anyway, this is my list and it isn't to say that all of it is set in concrete. There are some things, such as loving God and using the Bible for the standard, that won't change. Oh, and liking kids. That one has been a big one for a long time and it's only gotten more important I as grow older. :-) The hell and high water is pretty important too. And don't forget the chocolate...
What is it with girls and chocolate? It seems like there are certain items of food that become important for girls/women at certain times of life.
The other day, I was listing off some strange things our family eats (like peanut butter on our pancakes and waffles; peanut butter on our ice-cream; ketchup on our chicken and turkey; etc, etc.) to our neighbor lady and she interrupted me to ask, “Pickles and ice-cream?” I said, “No, I'm not pregnant.” :-P

Anyway, if you have a moment and the inspiration, I'd like to hear what qualities you appreciate in the opposite gender.. and it doesn't have to be in regards to marriage. I'm quite interested in the friendship aspect, too! It might give me something to add to my list... or to live up to. ;-)

Thanks for all the laughs, but for the most part, you ideal man is my ideal man too. :) lol However I am probably far too opinionated, stubborn, and impatient for any man to look my direction. ;) And I'm workin' on those letters!!

Nothing wrong with wanting quality chocolate. Can't figure out why people put up with the junk out there. And ftr, I'm not a girl, but I still like my quality chocolate, and am willing to spend money to get it. ;P

do you remember me? like years ago church in lakeside? anyway, I really like your list. . . that's like totally what I'm looking for in a guy. It's sad the difficulty to find good, hardworking, relatively normal, Christian men. Anyway, take heart, God has someone for you.

Bekah – you're not only stubborn and opinionated, you're beautiful and full of life. What man wouldn't want a combination such as this for a companion of a lifetime? ::hugs:: Did my CD of pictures work? I hope so. :-)

Klaus – I'm totally with you on this 'wital' subject of 'business' (to quote Jerry). You knew that but I wanted to let you know again. ;-) btw, you can have all of the green pepper dark quality chocolate you want. :-D

Joanna, yes! I remember you. :-) So good to hear from you after all these years. :-) How is your family? I will try to take a peek at your blog. It's been awhile since we've seen you all. 2005? Jessica's wedding?

This made me chuckle, Naomi, especially the picture. =)
I made so many lists... I finally left off with the lists and wrote what the bare essentials were--the concepts and values. I don't want to know everything about him before I meet him. =) I posted the essentials...come peak when you can.
And about the chocolate... It's certainly not confined to the fastidious females! One of my teachers openly told us that the way to his heart was fine chocolate! =)

I love your list and I'd say most of it is true for me too :)
And that picture at the top is hilarious! ;)
And you're right about chocolate. I don't think there are many girls out there who don't love the stuff! And I surely do :)

You are too sweet!!! But thanks for makin' me feel good. :D

Yes, your CD of pics worked, it was only the letter I couldn't read (more about that in my letters).

And my letters were sent last week. So you should be receiving them soon. :)

Smiles,
Bekah

Ashley, I took a peak as you well know. :) Great list. You made me laugh with that fact about your teacher.

Sam, it's true about the chocolate and men. I knew a couple who had it backwards, at least in my opinion: she disliked chocolate and he loved it. WHen they first met, he wanted to buy her something so he bought her a box of chocolates. Thankfully, his sister talked him out of it, saying that he didn't know the girl ::that:: well. Later on (when they were going to get married) he found out that she didn't like it anyways! Lol! Well, I guess it worked because they were married for over 60 years. :)

Hi again Bekah. Too sweet is a matter of opinion. ;)

Nadine... I can't wait to see you again. :) Thanks for the smile.
