March 31st -- lion or lamb

Astonishingly, I actually found a lamb to take a picture of. Actually, lambs, plural. They are as delicious as they are adorable.

Thank you to all of you who offered advice and great ideas for today's photo... and photos of the days past! You have helped make this month fun as well as challenging.

I am sorry to see this month come to an end. Perhaps I will continue taking a picture a day; we shall see. :)

March 30th -- your desk/workspace

Upstairs in our house resides my workspace/office/studio.
I love my job.

Day 29 -- lunchtime

My appetite is still in the dumps after being sick... I'm simply not hungry. But this isn't a bad thing. Before I got sick, I was trying to lose weight and it's hard to do because I love food. (To clarify, the wrong kinds of food. ;-)) So this appetite disappearance is actually a blessing in disguise.

Lunchtime today consisted of eggs and a glass of cranberry juice. Scrambled eggs are the bane of my existence except when they're smothered in ketchup and mayo... it is then that they become a dish worthy of reckoning. :-)

Before I made lunch, I made chicken soup and cleaned up the house. It feels so good to have everything accomplished. A clean house to welcome my students! Chicken soup to welcome home my husband. :-)

I like chopping up veggies and meat and throwing in a ton of herbs and pepper and smelling the simmer all over the house...

Day 28 -- animal

Today was challenging. I went outside and took several pictures. It was definitely a bear day.

We live in White Bear, so all the signs have white bears on them. :-)
In my mind, this picture is the adult side of me.
And since I simply must be taken seriously, this picture won.
Hehe.

Whereas this one...

... is most definitely my child side.
I love it. Isn't he cute?
Bears are ferocious creatures, even when they're running away from you. They frighten me. But this bear is too cute to be scared of.

You wanna know who I consider to be The Scariest Bear Of All?

Lotso-Huggin-Bear (aka "Lotso") from Toy Story Three.
The evil teddy bear and baby doll combo makes me shiver every time I think of it.

I also took a picture of a moose.

Yes, Mr. Moose. It is indeed (::peers closely at the dial::) a little past 0* C. :-)

March 27th -- star

Through the years, the world has given much thought to the meaning of the stars. They have symbolized good and bad; the fall and rise of kings; the gods and goddesses of old.
But I have my own thoughts.

One of the reasons I love Christmas so much is because of the stars
When I took the other decorations down, I left this one hanging up because I believe that stars symbolize
welcome, warmth and hope.
Which is what I strive to give to others, as Jesus did.

I love the stars.
They shine bright for a time and leave a moment of a memory when they fall.

March 26th -- bag or purse

This is my favorite bag.

At one point, the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party was my favorite place to be. It still ranks pretty high on my list (at home with Jesse is now at the top). Add that to the fact that Michele Amy is like a mother to me... and oh yeah! This is definitely my favorite bag. It comes with me everywhere because (1: it's handy. (2: it brings back good memories.

March 25th -- what's on your feet

My favorite socks!

I am ridiculously picky about my socks. When I was a little girl, I gave my Grandma Holter a very hard time about putting my shoes on because my socks weren't exactly lined up against my toes. I forced her to put my shoes on three times before I deemed it was acceptable. Looking back, I wonder how a three year old child held such power. Haha!!

However, all joking aside: if my socks don't fit right, my feet hurt. Weird, eh?

March 24th -- colorful

Snow received this unique (i.e. slightly disturbing) stuffed toy last Christmas. While *he* isn't quite sure what to think of it, I find it quite adorable. ;)

March 23rd -- something sweet

Due to the fact that I seem to have caught the local cold, my brain has gone all wobbly-ill. I really had no idea what to take a picture of today because of that. But as I lay on our bed in a most groggy state, I suddenly had a brilliant thought for today's picture:

scatter lots of candy all over the kitchen table and take a picture of it. :)

Impressively, I didn't even want to taste it... :)
My favorite part of this picture? When I was spilling M&Ms all over the table and the floor and Jesse's eyes got huge. :) :) :)

March 22nd -- neighborhood

Actually, where we live, it's spelled with a 'u', like so: "neighbourhood". Just saying. :)

In the winning picture, you see our neighbours' cabins and part of our driveway. You can just barely see our house. It's the brown one... almost in the middle of the picture.

To be honest, I was worried about the picture today. Our neighbourhood is beautiful, rugged and unique. There are so many things I love about where we live. How was I ever supposed to group them together in a single shot?

As it turns out, we spent over half an hour and 46 pictures looking for it. The lake is slowly melting in the warmth and the wind is drying up the mud. Jesse is feeling better and the cat isn't complaining as much about being outside. :)

All in all, it made for a beautiful walk. I have such contentment right now!

The bright sunlight, rippled clouds and distant sound of the drums of the powwow have set the mood of the idyllic [belated] ides of March.

March 21st -- living room

We are so in love with our house but the living room is where we hang out the most: inlaid with cedar, skylight, room for lots of movies and tv shows, lots of light...

...and, most importantly, so comfortable.

March 20th -- flower

When I was younger, I collected china in all forms... unfortunately, as I grow older, my priorities have changed and I have stopped collecting for the most part.

However, on my 25th birthday, Michele gave me a beautiful cake stand (late 1800's) to add to my collection. I consider it among the most beautiful items I own.

Each day, I look at it and revel in the beauty of friendship... and exquisite china
