Photo-A-Day-Challenge: March 1st

A friend on FB is participating in this challenge and it seemed like a great way to use my new camera every day this month. :-)

The description of "Something that makes you SMILE" fits many different things in my life. I went around the house and snapped pictures of things that brighten me up whenever I glimpse them. Then I had an idea: one of my students was due for a lesson and I love this kid. When he arrived, I asked him if I could take pictures of him while he was playing his songs for me and could I post them on my blog and FB? He was very pleased at the prospect. :-)

The world is a better place because of this young man.

Even though Brayden won hands down, I thought the other items that make me smile deserved some recognition as well. First, we have the hideous pirate lamp that is homemade (we assume) and came with the house. Whenever I see it I have to laugh. We were strongly encouraged to throw it away but Jesse and I are both Pirates of the Caribbean fans and we couldn't bear to.

"Jack: Put it away, son. It's not worth you getting beat again. Will: You didn't beat me. You ignored the rules of engagement! In a fair fight, I'd kill you! Jack: Well, that's not much incentive for me to fight fair then, is it?"

Secondly we have the afghan that Grandma Senft made for me when I was dealing with my knee injury. I was constantly in pain for 9 months and if it hadn't been for things like this blanket and the love people showered on me, I don't know how I would come through it.

Grandma, I will never forget you!

Our third and last item is more of a 'who' than a 'what'. His name is Snow. He is annoying. He meows. A lot. He has HUGE self esteem issues. He woke me up yesterday morning by walking incessantly over the top of me. I am allergic to cat hair and he sheds like crazy. He gets hurt when Jesse pays more attention to me then him. But all in all, this cat is a great animal. I love him. He's not just Jesse's cat any longer.

He is rather adorable.

My cat is annoying too. He is rubbing all up against my laptop as I'm keying in this message to you.

I have lived in a house with female cats and I must say I prefer the males. They're not as hot headed. At least the neutered ones. ;)
